Overview

Pleora's iPORT family solves a common machine-vision problem: a Camera Link, analog or block camera is already installed and working, but the host platform has no free PCIe slot, no supported capture card, or the camera must be moved far from the PC. Rather than replacing the camera, an iPORT external frame grabber converts the camera's native interface into standards-based GigE Vision, 10 GigE or USB3 Vision, so any compliant receiver — including a standard PC, embedded platform or display — can consume the stream.

The line covers the common cases: CL-U3 for USB3 Vision, CL-GigE for Camera Link Base cameras over Gigabit Ethernet with a wide temperature range, CL-Deca for preserving Camera Link investments in networked architectures, CL-Ten for Camera Link Full and Medium cameras over 10 GigE links at GigE Vision 2.0 performance, GEV-TB for low-latency Thunderbolt hosts, Analog-Pro for analog cameras, and SKB-GigE for Skoopia 21Z30S block cameras. There are also specialized products such as the vDisplay HDI-Pro display-end computer replacement and the RuggedCONNECT smart video switcher for vehicle situational awareness.

The software side is Pleora's eBUS SDK. Version 7.0 retains the single unified API across GigE, 10 GigE and USB that lets developers write once, and adds .NET 8 support on Windows and Linux x86/ARM, GStreamer integration for Linux pipelines, and ROS2 / ROS-Industrial support for robotics deployments.

Key Benefits

No PCIe slot required — connectivity moves outside the host, so small industrial PCs, embedded platforms and sealed systems can handle high-resolution cameras. Protects existing camera investment instead of forcing an expensive camera replacement. Standards-based output (GigE Vision, USB3 Vision) avoids vendor lock-in on both camera and host sides. Long cable runs and multicasting allow processing to be located away from harsh environments, and eBUS SDK 7.0 gives Windows/Linux, .NET 8, GStreamer and ROS2 support from one codebase.

Applications

Multi-camera industrial inspection lines, thermal screening stations, barcode print verification with lower-cost hosts, machine-vision systems retrofitted onto existing Camera Link cameras, robotics cells using ROS2 with vision feedback, embedded and X-ray flat-panel detector platforms, and rugged vehicle-mounted situational-awareness systems.
