Overview

Blackmagic Design DeckLink cards are the most widely deployed PCIe video capture and playback family in the industry, and they are frequently the front end of machine-learning video pipelines: cameras feed SDI or HDMI into the card, the host reads frames through a cross-platform driver, and inference runs against that stream in real time. DeckLink is intentionally hardware-agnostic — the same card installs into a Mac, a Windows workstation or a Linux server.

The flagship DeckLink 8K Pro G2 provides four bi-directional 12G-SDI connections plus HDMI 2.1 input and output, handling SD, HD, 2K, 4K and 8K in single, dual and quad link 4:2:2 or 4:4:4 with 2D/3D switching. SDI audio scales from 16 channels at SD/HD/2K to 64 channels at 4K and 8K, while HDMI carries 8 channels in TMDS mode and 32 in FRL mode. Reference sync accepts Tri-Sync or Black Burst and an RS-422 port provides deck control.

Below the flagship, the range covers almost every ingest density requirement: DeckLink Quad 2 for eight bi-directional SDI channels, DeckLink Duo 2 for four, DeckLink Quad HDMI Recorder for multi-input HDMI capture, DeckLink 8K Pro Mini with four independent mini BNC 12G-SDI inputs for dense racks, and Mini Recorder HD/4K for single-channel work. Every card ships with DaVinci Resolve, Media Express and LiveKey, and works with Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, OBS Studio, vMix, TouchDesigner and dozens of other applications.

Key Benefits

Highest-density ingest: up to eight bi-directional SDI channels or four 12G-SDI plus HDMI 2.1 in one card. True cross-platform: one driver covers Mac OS, Windows and Linux. Broadcast codec coverage: ProRes, DNxHR/DNxHD, AVC-Intra and uncompressed 10-bit 4:4:4. Software included: DaVinci Resolve and Media Express ship with the hardware.

Applications

Multi-camera video analytics and smart-city monitoring, live production and broadcast ingest, real-time AI inference on video streams, medical and industrial recording, sports and event replay systems, and machine-vision research benches that require standards-based SDI or HDMI capture.
