Overview

The Rapixo CXP series is the CoaXPress frame grabber line that Zebra acquired with Matrox Imaging, and it remains one of the reference acquisition platforms for high-resolution machine vision. The core value is straightforward: up to four CXP 2.0 cameras on a single card, each connection at up to 12.5 Gbps on the CXP-12 models, with the cabling simplified down to one coax per camera.

The family is deliberately tiered. Rapixo CXP covers single- to quad-input applications with 1 or 2 GB of DDR3 for image buffering and passive cooling — for example RAP 1G 1C12 on PCIe 2.1 x4 and RAP 2G 2C12 on PCIe 3.1 x4. The Pro variants move to 4 or 8 GB of DDR4 and add optional FPGA-based image processing offload, so filtering, colour conversion and preprocessing happen on the card instead of consuming host CPU. Rapixo CXP Pro Octo extends to eight inputs, while Rapixo CoF addresses CoaXPress-over-Fiber and the Rapixo CL Pro and CL DB-SF members cover Camera Link 2.1.

Even the entry models carry real image processing: 8-, 10- and 12-bit lookup tables, Bayer interpolation across GB, BG, GR and RG patterns, colour space conversion, and a broad mix of input and output pixel formats including planar BGR, 16-bit YUV, YCbCr and 32-bit BGRa. Optional data forwarding lets the card feed a downstream processor directly.

Control and application development run through the Matrox Imaging Library (MIL X) and Matrox Design Assistant on 64-bit Windows and Linux, which matters for integrators with existing MIL application code. Certifications cover FCC and CE Class A, ICES-003, RCM and KC, and Zebra warrants the boards for two years. QS Compute supplies the Rapixo family with matched CoaXPress cabling and multi-camera breakout options.

Key Benefits

Up to four cameras per card: fewer host slots and simpler multi-camera cabling. CXP-12 at 12.5 Gbps per link: supports the highest-resolution and fastest CXP 2.0 cameras. Optional FPGA offload on Pro: moves image processing off the host CPU. MIL X and Design Assistant: preserves existing Matrox Imaging application code.

Applications

High-resolution multi-camera inspection stations, semiconductor and electronics inspection, print and packaging web inspection, food sorting with colour analysis, robotics guidance with multiple heads, CoaXPress-over-Fiber installations on long cable runs, and existing Matrox Imaging installations being extended with new camera heads.
