Specifications
Product Family
nVent RDHX PRO rear door cooling unit (Schroff-branded data solutions)
Cooling Capacity
Up to 78 kW per rack; 68 kW at 14 degrees C supply water, 44 kW at 24 degrees C
Variants
Passive (240 mm deep) and Active (281 mm deep) rear door cooler
Rack Sizes
Standard sizes for 42U, 47U, 48U and 52U data centre racks
Rack Widths
600 mm and 800 mm
Dry Weight
200 kg
Depth
240 mm passive / 281 mm active; adapter frame adds approximately 127 mm
Adapter Frame
Approximately 127 mm deep solid frame housing the RDHX and the complete plumbing / wetted path — no wetted material penetrates into the rack, which increases leak safety
Top Cover
Cover panel with cutouts for flexible hoses and cabling
Warm Water Operation
Runs comfortably on 57 degrees F (14 degrees C) warm water, enabling free cooling and a substantially lower facility energy cost
Cooling Performance
Published performance curves in W/K against cold air flow from 1,500 to 9,000 m3/h at 20-80 l/min water flow
Supply Temperture Headroom
Performance is quoted at both 14 degrees C and 24 degrees C supply so operators can plan for higher water temperatures
Leak Management
Condensate drain options (top feed, 600 W and 750 W) and an optional leak detection package
Installation
Mounts to the rack rear door; can be installed in live environments and added incrementally for retrofit
Floor Space
No additional floor space or ceiling headroom required — frees white space otherwise consumed by CRAH units
Alignment
Matches ASHRAE Table 3.1 2021 thermal guidelines for data centre supply temperatures
Overview
The RDHX PRO is nVent's answer to racks that have outgrown air cooling but are not yet ready for full direct-to-chip liquid. It is a rear door cooling unit rated to 78 kW, mounted directly on the back of the rack so the coil sits immediately downstream of the server exhaust.
The design goal is warm water operation. At 14 degrees C supply water the unit removes 68 kW; at 24 degrees C it still removes 44 kW. Being able to run on 24 degrees C instead of chilled water in the 7-12 degrees C range is what lets a facility use free cooling for a much larger share of the year, and it is the single biggest lever on the unit's operating cost.
Mechanically, the RDHX and its entire wetted path live in an approximately 127 mm adapter frame outside the rack, so no wetted material penetrates into the IT compartment. Combined with the condensate drain and optional leak detection package, that keeps water outside the equipment enclosure. The unit is offered in a 240 mm passive form and a 281 mm active form with fans.
Key Benefits
Up to 78 kW per rack at rack level. 68 kW on 14 degrees C warm water, 44 kW on 24 degrees C for free-cooling economics. Wetted path stays outside the rack in a 127 mm adapter frame. No floor or ceiling footprint added. Retrofit-friendly — can be added incrementally in live environments.
Applications
High-density AI and HPC racks; retrofit of air-cooled halls toward liquid cooling; free-cooling-optimised facilities; OCP-style racks; colocation density upgrades where floor space is fixed.
