Overview

The LiquidStack CDU 2.X is an architecture-agnostic coolant distribution unit designed so that data center operators can deploy and scale liquid cooling without redesigning infrastructure each time a new AI accelerator platform arrives. It was introduced by LiquidStack, a Trane Technologies business, at Yotta 2026 in Ireland.

The platform delivers flow rates up to 3,750 litres per minute at 3.5 bar and supports facility inlet temperatures up to 45 °C, which improves the efficiency of high-density AI deployments. It installs end-of-row or rack-adjacent and offers configurable control-valve and power-feed options with dual-feed A/B redundancy and automatic transfer switch support.

The CDU 2.X ships alongside the commercially available LiquidStack GigaModular CDU platform, now expanded to 14 MW of capacity, giving operators a cooling roadmap that spans rack-adjacent units up to multi-megawatt end-of-row distribution. Pre-orders are open, with shipments beginning in Q2 2027.

Key Benefits

Architecture-agnostic one design for multiple generations of AI processors, cutting redesign risk. High flow and inlet temperature — 3,750 L/min and 45 °C facility water improve efficiency. Configurable redundancy with dual-feed A/B and ATS. Scales to 14 MW via the LiquidStack GigaModular CDU platform.

Applications

Direct-to-chip liquid cooling of high-density GPU and AI racks, AI colocation and hyperscale facilities, and retrofit or greenfield data centers scaling beyond 100 kW per rack.
