Overview
The VAR-SMARC-MX95 puts NXP's i.MX 95 into the SMARC 2.x standard, so it plugs into the large ecosystem of commercially available SMARC carriers instead of a vendor-proprietary carrier. That makes it the lower-risk route to an i.MX 95 design for teams already committed to SMARC.
Compute follows the same architecture as the DART-MX95: up to six Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0 GHz, an 800 MHz Cortex-M7 and a 333 MHz Cortex-M33 for real-time work, plus the NXP eIQ Neutron NPU for on-module inference.
Connectivity is strong for a SMARC module, with WiFi 6 covering 802.11 ax/ac/a/b/g/n, Bluetooth and BLE 5.4, dual gigabit Ethernet and a 10 GbE port, alongside two USB 3.0/2.0 interfaces.
Key Benefits
Standards-based integration: SMARC 2.x mechanical and pin compatibility means off-the-shelf carriers and a wide supplier base. Networking headroom: a 10 GbE port on a SMARC module supports vision and gateway designs where gigabit is insufficient. Real-time domain included: M7 and M33 co-processors cover deterministic control without a second processor on the carrier.
Applications
Industrial HMI and control panels, edge AI vision systems, IoT gateways, medical instrumentation, transportation systems, and any design migrating to i.MX 95 on an existing SMARC carrier.
