Overview
The CompuLab UCM-iMX952 is a 28 × 40 mm system-on-module built around NXP's i.MX952 processor. It combines dual- or quad-core Cortex-A55 application cores running up to 1.7 GHz with dedicated Cortex-M7 and Cortex-M33 real-time cores, an NXP eIQ Neutron NPU for machine-learning workloads, a Mali-G310 GPU with OpenGL ES 3.2, Vulkan 1.2 and OpenCL 3.0, and an integrated 4K video processing unit.
For industrial designs the module offers up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 or LPDDR4X, up to 128 GB of eMMC, 2.5GbE via SGMII and PCIe Gen 3 expansion. Note that the 2.5GbE port shares signals with the PCIe Gen 3 x1 link, so designers choose between them. Optional Ezurio SONA NX611 wireless adds Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4, and the SB-UCM-iMX95 evaluation kit bundles the module with a carrier board, display and camera options, and Mender-based OTA update tooling.
Key Benefits
Heterogeneous compute: Cortex-A55 application cores plus Cortex-M7/M33 real-time cores on one module. On-module AI via the NXP eIQ Neutron NPU. Fast networking: 2.5GbE with a separate RGMII interface, plus PCIe Gen 3. Industrial I/O breadth: 3x CAN-FD, 8x UART and up to 94 GPIOs. Production software stack: Debian, Yocto and RTOS BSPs with Docker, Azure IoT and Mender OTA support.
Applications
Industrial gateways and protocol converters, machine control and motion systems, medical and laboratory instruments, HMI and signage controllers, RTOS-plus-Linux edge devices, and IoT nodes needing 2.5GbE and long-term Linux maintenance.
