The ASUS Pro WS W890E-SAGE SE is a workstation motherboard for Intel's Xeon 600 for Workstation line on the LGA4710-2 socket, supporting CPUs up to 86 cores. It is built for people who need a server-grade memory and expansion topology but run it as a deskside or rack-mounted local AI node: eight DDR5 DIMM slots in an eight-channel layout accepting ECC RDIMM, 3DS-RDIMM and MRDIMM, all feeding a single socket.
Expansion is deliberately generous — seven PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, configured x16/x16/x16/x16/x16/x8/x16 with a Xeon 690, 670 or 650. Four of those slots (PCIEX16(G5)_1, _3, _5 and _7) support CXL, which matters for anyone planning memory expansion or pooling rather than just GPUs.
