Overview
The Intel Xeon 676X brings 32 Granite Rapids performance cores to the Xeon 600 workstation platform at the mainstream end of the boxed-retail range. It keeps the full W890 feature set: 128 PCIe 5.0 lanes, native CXL 2.0, up to 4 TB of memory with MRDIMM support, and validation for up to eight PCIe 5.0 GPUs.
For AI-adjacent workstations the GPU count matters more than core count, and the 676X reaches the same eight-GPU ceiling as the 86-core flagship. The trade is CPU-side throughput for rendering, simulation and heavy preprocessing.
It retains AMX with INT8, BFLOAT16 and FP16 along with AVX-512, so CPU inference, quantisation and data preprocessing remain accelerated rather than falling back to scalar code.
Key Benefits
Full 128-lane platform at a lower core count — no I/O penalty versus the flagship. Up to 8 PCIe 5.0 GPUs validated on the same W890 board. CXL 2.0 and 4 TB memory for memory-bound datasets. AMX FP16 and AVX-512 keep CPU-side AI work accelerated.
Applications
Single and dual-GPU AI development workstations with high PCIe fan-out; engineering and CAD workloads; media transcoding nodes; departmental compute where 32 cores covers peak demand.
