Overview
Siemens builds busway for facilities that need a verifiable, low-loss distribution backbone. The Sentron line spans 225 A to 5,000 A in an all-aluminium enclosure that doubles as the integral ground, which removes the ampacity derating most busway requires in different mounting orientations. Conductor options range from 98% conductivity copper to 750 A/in2 L-rated aluminium, with 200% neutral configurations for the harmonic-heavy IT loads typical of dense racks.
The mechanical design is aimed at long-term reliability: a single torque-indicating break-off bolt shears at 50 ft-lb so every joint is provably correct, each joint offers +/-0.625 in of field adjustment, and Class B 130 C epoxy insulation is dielectric tested on every assembly. Siemens also ships the Sivacon 8PS and NXPLUS Bus families for switchgear and medium-voltage interconnection, giving a full path from utility entry to row-level tap-offs.
Key Benefits
No derating in any mounting orientation simplifies design and protects capacity headroom. 200% neutral and isolated ground options suit harmonic-rich GPU and IT loads. Verifiable joints and 20-30% installed-cost savings versus conduit reduce both risk and build cost, and the IP40 to IP66 / NEMA 3R range covers indoor halls and outdoor runs.
Applications
Data centre riser and feeder busway, overhead row distribution in AI halls, industrial facilities adding dense compute, outdoor or washdown-adjacent power runs, and European builds needing IEC-rated busbar trunking.
