Overview
The Galaxy VXL is Schneider Electric's answer to the space problem that arrives with AI power density: a three-phase UPS rated 500 kW to 1250 kW that puts up to 1.25 MW of critical load into a single 1.2 m2 frame. That is 1042 kW per square metre, and Schneider measures it as a 52% footprint improvement over the industry average - meaningful when floor area in an AI hall is being reallocated to compute.
Capacity scales by adding 125 kW power modules in 3U increments, so an operator buys to current load and grows with demand rather than committing to a full frame up front. Efficiency reaches 97.5%, and the design is described as AI-load tolerant - a direct response to the transient, step-load behaviour of GPU training clusters, which stresses conventional UPS sizing assumptions.
In the wider 800 VDC transition the Galaxy VXL occupies the AC side of the roadmap: Schneider positions sidecar retrofit language up to roughly 200 kW per rack and purpose-built architectures above 400 kW, alongside solid-state protection and its own 800 VDC work with NVIDIA. For 2026 halls still fed by 415/480 VAC, the high-density AC UPS remains the deployable element.
Key Benefits
Density that buys back floor area: 1.25 MW in 1.2 m2 at 1042 kW/m2. Pay-as-you-grow modularity: 125 kW/3U modules let capacity track actual load. AI-load tolerance: engineered for the transient behaviour of GPU training rather than legacy steady-state profiles.
Applications
AI factories and GPU data halls, high-density colocation, large-scale electrical workloads, brownfield UPS replacement where floor space is constrained, modular pay-as-you-grow power protection, 400 V and 480 V three-phase critical power.
