Overview
The KEYENCE VS-G Series is the controller-class member of the VS vision family. Where the VS smart camera integrates optics and processing in one IP67 body, the VS-G separates them: a DIN-rail controller with a dedicated AI engine drives up to eight Ethernet-connected cameras, applies learned inspection models on the controller, and archives every image for traceability.
The performance tiers map cleanly onto inspection complexity. VS-G2000 and VS-G2200 pair a 16-core processor group with 8 GB of RAM for standard multi-camera lines, while VS-G2500, VS-G2800 and VS-G2900 add a 32-core AI engine with 32 GB or 64 GB of memory for high-magnification defect detection and large high-resolution sensors such as the 8192 × 7808 CA-HF6400M/C.
For factory integration the VS-G speaks the protocols a PLC already understands — EtherNet/IP, PROFINET Conformance Class B and EtherCAT via an optional communication unit — and carries 16 general-purpose inputs plus 24 outputs, enough to handshake with a line controller without extra I/O blocks. Standard 240 GB or 480 GB data storage can be expanded to 4 TB so that full production history is retained on the machine.
