Overview
Imperx's Tiger cameras occupy the large-format end of the inspection camera market. Where most machine vision cameras stop at 1-inch sensors, Tiger models use 35 mm and 57 mm optical formats to capture whole parts in a single frame — the reason they appear in flat-panel, PCB, print and aerospace inspection rather than on conveyor lines.
The top of the line is the T8810: a 47 MP camera built on the KAI-47051 sensor at 8880 x 5392 in a 57 mm optical format, running up to 3.2 fps. Below it, the 29 MP T6640 uses a KAI-29050 at 6600 x 4400 in 35 mm format at up to 4.9 fps, and the T6641 is an enhanced near-infrared variant of the same camera for applications that need NIR sensitivity. The 16 MP T4840 rounds out the family, and the T6640, T6641 and T4840 share a common 69.5 x 69.5 x 51.5 mm body so a fixture can accept more than one resolution.
For an inspection camera, dynamic range and exposure latitude matter as much as pixel count. Tiger cameras deliver up to 70+ dB dynamic range with exposures as long as 16 seconds, which lets a single sensor cover both a reflective solder joint and a dark recess. Forced-air cooling is available where the camera runs continuously.
Output is a choice between Camera Link and CoaXPress, so the Tiger line can be integrated with either an established Camera Link frame grabber or a modern CXP acquisition card. Monochrome, Bayer color and sparse colour filter array options are available, along with Canon lens control, advanced trigger and strobe control with optional opto-isolated I/O, on-camera image enhancement and field-upgradable firmware. QS Compute supplies Tiger cameras with matched frame grabbers and optics.
Key Benefits
Largest available formats: up to 47 MP and 57 mm optical formats capture a full part in one frame. High dynamic range with long exposures: up to 70+ dB and exposures to 16 seconds. Camera Link or CoaXPress: integrate with either acquisition ecosystem. Shared body across models: 16 MP to 29 MP variants drop into the same fixture.
Applications
Flat-panel display inspection, PCB and semiconductor large-area inspection, print and web inspection, aerospace and defence imaging, film and document digitisation, scientific imaging with NIR requirements, and any high-resolution application where frame stitching is not acceptable.
