Overview
Luxshare-Tech's OSFP 224G connector targets the specific bottleneck that appears when switch silicon doubles: with Broadcom-class platforms moving from 51.2T to 102.4T, the connector and cage become the limiting element in both bandwidth density and thermal headroom. The OSFP 224G carries 8 channels per port at 224 Gbps PAM4 for 1.6 Tbps per port, and fits 36 such ports into a single 1U slot.
Critically the design is backward compatible with OSFP112G modules, so an operator can move from 800G to 1.6T on the existing architecture rather than rebuilding the fabric - a deployment-cost argument, not just a speed one. The metallized shell produced by metal injection molding delivers the structural stability and anti-interference performance that 224G channels require.
Around the connector Luxshare supplies the rest of the coherent rack: the 224G Intrepid NEXUS backplane connector, the Intrepid Cable Cartridge high-speed cable backplane with +/-3 mm XY float, and 224G KOOLIO co-packaged copper (CPC/NPC) already in commercial deployment in AI clusters. A 448G roadmap is underway.
