Overview
The Portwell PCOM-B887 is a COM-HPC Client Type Size C module built on Intel Core Ultra 200S Series processors and compliant with the PICMG COM-HPC Revision 1.2 specification. By putting CPU performance, Intel Xe-LPG graphics and a dedicated Neural Processing Unit onto a standardised module, it lets a system integrator build AI-capable industrial systems around an existing COM-HPC carrier rather than designing a bespoke board.
The module delivers up to 36 total platform TOPS of AI acceleration, which is enough to run machine-vision pipelines and local inference without a discrete accelerator card - a meaningful simplification in sealed or space-constrained industrial enclosures where a PCIe card cannot be fitted or cooled. Memory support reaches 192GB of DDR5 at up to 4800 MT/s, sufficient for multi-camera buffering and larger model footprints, and the Xe-LPG GPU adds hardware-accelerated AV1 encode and decode for low-latency video streaming.
Expansion and I/O are aimed at scalable platform design: PCIe Gen5 x16 and x4 lanes plus PCIe Gen4 for add-in cards and NVMe, USB4 for high-speed peripherals, SATA for legacy storage, and both DDI and eDP display interfaces. Because the compute resides on a certified COM-HPC module, a product line can be upgraded to a future processor generation by swapping the module rather than re-qualifying the carrier - the long-availability model industrial OEMs build multi-year product lines on. Portwell positions the PCOM-B887 for machine vision, factory automation, HMI control stations and medical imaging.
Key Benefits
Up to 36 platform TOPS from CPU, Xe-LPG GPU and an integrated NPU with no discrete accelerator card, up to 192GB of DDR5 for multi-camera and model footprints, PCIe Gen5 and USB4 for current-generation I/O, a PICMG COM-HPC Rev 1.2 standard footprint that shortens development cycles, and a module-swap upgrade path for long product life.
Applications
Machine-vision and AI inspection systems, factory automation and industrial controllers, HMI control stations, medical imaging equipment, real-time data-processing platforms, and edge AI video analytics.
