Overview

The Orange Pi Zero 4 is a compact 50 × 55 mm single-board computer built on the Allwinner A733 SoC. It combines a heterogeneous octa-core CPU — two Cortex-A76 cores partnered with six Cortex-A55 cores at up to 2.0 GHz — with Imagination PowerVR BXM-4-64 MC1 graphics and an NPU rated at up to 3 TOPS for INT8 and FP16 inference, all cooled passively and powered from a single 5V/3A USB-C supply.

I/O is unusually complete for the footprint: Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4, Mini HDMI at 4K60, DisplayPort over USB-C, USB 3.1, two 4-lane MIPI CSI camera connectors, and a PCIe 3.0 plus USB 3.1 FPC expansion header. Memory scales to 16 GB of LPDDR5 with eMMC or UFS storage options. Buyers should note that Orange Pi's image downloads and purchase links were not live at announcement, so software-support maturity for the A733 platform is worth validating before committing to production designs.

Key Benefits

3 TOPS NPU at the edge for light vision and classification workloads. Octa-core A76/A55 CPU with up to 16 GB LPDDR5. Full-size I/O in a 50 × 55 mm board — GbE, Wi-Fi 6, BT 5.4 and dual 4-lane CSI. PCIe 3.0 expansion via a 16-pin FPC for NVMe or add-in cards. Low bill of materials: single 5V/3A USB-C supply and passive cooling.

Applications

Compact edge AI and vision nodes, digital signage and kiosk controllers, network appliances and gateways, robotics controllers, retro-gaming and media systems, and embedded prototyping where PCIe 3.0 expansion and an on-chip NPU are required at low cost.
