Overview

The Radxa Cubie A7Z is a 65 x 30 mm single board computer positioned against the Raspberry Pi Zero form factor but built on Allwinner's A733 SoC. Radxa pairs two Cortex-A76 performance cores with six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores, plus a 200 MHz XuanTie E902 RISC-V coprocessor for always-on and hard real-time duties without waking the main cluster.

The headline addition over earlier boards in this class is a 3 TOPS NPU supporting INT8, INT16, FP16 and FP32 precision, combined with a MIPI CSI interface that splits into either one 4-lane or two 2-lane camera inputs. That combination makes the A7Z usable for AI vision tasks at the sensor edge rather than purely as a headless IoT node.

I/O density is unusually high for the size. Micro HDMI 2.0 drives 4K60 while the USB 3.1 Type-C port can carry DisplayPort Alt Mode for a second screen, and an additional PCIe Gen3.0 FPC connector allows external NVMe storage, accelerators or Gigabit Ethernet beyond the single onboard PCIe Gen3.0 x1 lane. Memory ranges from 1GB to 16GB LPDDR4/4x, with optional onboard UFS 3.0 up to 512GB. Debian, Buildroot, Tina Linux and Android 13 are supported.

Key Benefits

3 TOPS NPU with INT8/INT16/FP16/FP32 support for on-board vision inference; dual Cortex-A76 plus hexa Cortex-A55 CPU with a dedicated 200 MHz RISC-V coprocessor; 65 x 30 mm footprint for space-constrained enclosures; dual display output via Micro HDMI 2.0 and USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode; PCIe Gen3.0 NVMe support onboard and through an FPC connector; Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 integrated; entry pricing near $29.

Applications

AI vision at the sensor edge, compact robotics and drones, digital signage and kiosk control, industrial IoT gateways, portable measurement instruments, wearable and handheld devices, embedded Linux development.
