Overview

The NXP i.MX 93W is the first integrated wireless MPU System-in-Package in the i.MX family. It places the dual-core Cortex-A55 i.MX 93 processor alongside an iW610 tri-radio - Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth Low Energy and 802.15.4 - inside a 14.2 x 12 mm package, and includes the external radio components that would otherwise sit on the board. NXP measures the saving at up to 60 discrete components.

For product teams the practical benefit is regulatory and layout work rather than raw performance. Because the RF front end is characterised in the package, designers avoid matching networks, coexistence tuning and a separate module certification cycle, which is often the longest pole in a connected industrial product schedule. Combined with a Matter over Wi-Fi capable radio set and 802.15.4 for Thread, the part can serve as a Matter border router as well as an application processor.

Compute stays modest and efficient: dual Cortex-A55 cores to 1.7 GHz, a Cortex-M33 real-time core at 250 MHz, an Arm Ethos-U65 microNPU for always-on inference and a 2D GPU. Memory runs over 16-bit LPDDR4/LPDDR4X at up to 3.7 GT/s with inline ECC, storage spans two SD/SDIO/eMMC interfaces, and networking includes two Gigabit Ethernet MACs with AVB, IEEE 1588 and TSN on one port.

Key Benefits

Single-package wireless removing up to 60 discrete components, Wi-Fi 6 plus Bluetooth LE plus 802.15.4 tri-radio for Matter border routers, Ethos-U65 microNPU for always-on inference, and inline ECC DRAM for reliable 24/7 operation.

Applications

Industrial IoT gateways, Matter and Thread border routers, energy meters and EV charging controllers, smart building devices, HMI panels, and connected industrial appliances.
