Overview
The iWave iW-RainboW-G61M is a SMARC v2.1.1 system-on-module built on the NXP i.MX 95 applications processor. It combines six Arm Cortex-A55 cores running up to 1.8 GHz with dedicated Cortex-M33 and Cortex-M7 real-time cores, plus an NPU rated at up to 2.0 TOPS — enough for NPU-accelerated vision and machine learning pipelines at the edge without an external accelerator.
Networking is unusually strong for a SMARC module: a 10 Gigabit Ethernet port driven from the i.MX 95 SERDES sits alongside two Gigabit Ethernet PHYs hosted on the module itself, and an on-module Wi-Fi 6 plus Bluetooth 5.3 radio covers wireless links. Two MIPI CSI camera inputs (one 2-lane, one 4-lane), dual LVDS outputs and an optional HDMI 2.0 bridge make the module a natural fit for vision systems and multimedia HMIs.
The module carries up to 16 GB of LPDDR5, 16 GB eMMC, QSPI flash and optional TPM 2.0, and is specified across the full -40°C to +85°C industrial range with a 10+ year longevity commitment. iWave ships a Linux 6.1.55 Yocto BSP, a SMARC development kit and custom carrier design services.
Key Benefits
NPU without an add-on: a 2.0 TOPS accelerator and a 10GbE port on a single 82 x 50 mm module remove the need for a separate AI card and switch in vision products. Real-time and application cores on one die: Cortex-A55 application cores run Linux while Cortex-M33 and M7 cores handle deterministic control, helping meet industrial safety and latency budgets. Long-life supply: 10+ year longevity with REACH/RoHS3 compliance and industrial -40 to +85°C ratings suit products with decade-long service lives.
Applications
Machine vision and inspection systems, industrial automation controllers, medical imaging gateways, smart camera products, HMI panels and 10GbE-connected edge gateways.
