Overview
The Digilent PYNQ-Z1 is a Zynq-7020 development board tuned for the open-source PYNQ framework, which puts Python and Jupyter notebooks on top of the FPGA so hardware accelerators can be driven as Python objects. The board carries a dual-core 667 MHz Cortex-A9, 512 MB of DDR3 memory and boots Linux from microSD.
Connectivity includes Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI in/out, USB host and USB-UART/JTAG, plus Arduino and Pmod headers for add-on hardware. It is the standard platform for PYNQ overlay development and a convenient bridge from software prototyping to FPGA acceleration.
Key Benefits
PYNQ Python/Jupyter overlay framework pre-validated · Zynq-7020 with 512 MB DDR3 · Gigabit Ethernet and HDMI · Arduino and Pmod expansion · boots Linux from microSD.
Applications
Python-based FPGA acceleration projects, edge-AI and image-processing overlays, machine-vision and video pipelines, teaching hardware acceleration without HDL.
