Overview
The AMD Xilinx Artix-7 XC7A200T sits at the top of the Artix-7 density range and is the part most designers reach for when a Kintex-class device is more logic than the application needs but a Spartan-class device is not enough. It packs 215,360 logic cells, 740 DSP48E1 slices and 13,140 Kb of block RAM into a 28 nm HKMG fabric, with four 6.6 Gb/s GTP transceivers and one integrated PCIe Gen2 x4 hard block.
Because Artix-7 uses the same 7-series architecture, IP and Vivado tool flow as Kintex-7 and Virtex-7, a design can be prototyped on an Artix device and re-targeted upward without re-writing the fabric logic. That architectural continuity is why Artix-7 remains in long-lifecycle industrial, instrumentation and defence designs even though it is no longer the newest node AMD ships.
Key Benefits
Lowest static and dynamic power in the 7-series for a given logic count — the HKMG process and 1.0 V core keep Artix-7 designs inside fanless thermal budgets. Integrated PCIe Gen2 x4 and 4 GTP transceivers remove external bridge chips. Full Vivado support and long-lifecycle availability with -1/-2/-3 speed grades and C/I/Q temperature options.
Applications
PCIe add-in cards and bridges, machine-vision camera pipelines, industrial motor control, broadcast video processing, test-and-measurement instrumentation, software-defined radio, and defence/aerospace designs requiring Q-grade parts.
