Overview
The AMD Versal AI Core XQRVC1902 is the space-grade variant of AMD's Versal AI Core adaptive SoC, packaged in an enhanced space-grade organic lidless design built to support missions lasting up to 15 years. AMD is qualifying the device to MIL-PRF-38535 Class Y, the highest quality and reliability tier under the standard for spaceflight components.
AMD began sampling the XQRVC1902 with early-access customers on October 1, 2026, with Class Y flight-qualified units expected in the second half of 2027. The part is documented in AMD datasheet DS946 and targets geosynchronous satellites, lunar exploration and deep-space probes where both onboard AI processing and exceptional long-term reliability are required.
The lidless package provides a direct thermal path and lower thermal resistance, while the underlying Versal AI Core architecture combines AI Engines, programmable logic and scalar engines for onboard inference and signal processing. AMD plans space-qualified Versal RF and Versal AI Edge Gen 2 devices to follow around 2029.
Key Benefits
MIL-PRF-38535 Class Y qualification path for human-rated missions; 15-year mission support for long-duration spaceflight; a lidless space-grade package for direct thermal management; and Versal AI Core AI Engines for onboard inference and sensor fusion.
Applications
Geosynchronous communications satellites, lunar and deep-space exploration probes, Earth-observation payloads, SAR and radar processing, onboard AI/ML and secure defense space systems.
