Cheetah SCM 1.6/3.2TB pSLC-eTLC · Cheetah HC up to 122TB QLC/TLC · PCIe Gen5 x4 NVMe 2.0 · 16 NAND channels · DDR5
The Unigen Cheetah series is a two-family enterprise SSD line built for AI infrastructure, announced by Unigen Corporation with both families already in production. Cheetah Storage Class Memory (SCM) is an ultra-low-latency PCIe Gen5 x4 NVMe 2.0 drive engineered to bridge the performance and persistence gap between DRAM and traditional NAND flash: 1.6TB and 3.2TB capacities on pSLC and eTLC NAND, 16 NAND channels with a DDR5 interface, up to 14.7 GB/s sequential read and 11.1 GB/s sequential write, up to 3.37M random read IOPS, and 4K random read latency as low as 7.08 microseconds. Endurance reaches 60 DWPD on random workloads and 80 DWPD on sequential workloads with full power loss protection — a profile aimed squarely at AI model checkpointing, GPU scratch space, metadata acceleration, vector databases and GPU Direct Storage, and a direct alternative to high-endurance SLC-class drives in the QLC era. Cheetah High Capacity (HC) covers the capacity tier instead: up to 122TB, described on Unigen's current specification set as 128TB today with roadmap expansion, in U.2 and E1.L form factors on QLC and TLC NAND. It sustains up to 14.17 GB/s sequential read, 836K random read IOPS and 0.3 DWPD random / 1.8 DWPD sequential endurance, with the same 16-channel controller architecture and enterprise power loss protection. Deployed together the two families form a two-tier AI storage hierarchy — SCM as the hot tier for active datasets, write acceleration and caching, HC as the capacity tier for foundation models, training datasets, embedding databases and archives. Unigen supplies both families from a common controller and firmware platform across E1.S, E1.L, E3.S and U.2, which simplifies qualification across evolving data center designs.
