Overview

The Silicom Toledo is an IoT edge network appliance that combines Intel Atom C3000 processing (4 to 16 cores) with a genuinely appliance-grade networking and management feature set. Memory is dual-channel LPDDR4 with ECC up to 64 GB, and the platform supports two independent M.2 storage devices so the operating system and the data/log volume can be physically separated.

Networking is the headline: four ports of 10 Gigabit in SFP+, 10GBase-T or a hybrid of the two, backed by 2, 6 or 10 additional 1GbE ports and an optional hardware LAN bypass so that inline security or packet-capture workloads fail open rather than dropping traffic if the appliance loses power. Optional CAN bus, 16-in/16-out isolated digital I/O and RS232 serial let the Toledo act as both a network appliance and an industrial controller.

Management mirrors a server rather than a gateway: an AST2400/2500 BMC provides IPMI 2.0, DCMI, iKVM and virtual media, while TPM 2.0 with secure boot and secure flash protects the boot chain. The 209 x 187 x 37.5 mm chassis takes 9-28 VDC with reverse-polarity protection and is qualified from 0 to 50 C, with extended and industrial configurations reaching -30 to 72 C.

Key Benefits

10G edge networking: 4x SFP+ or 10GBase-T with up to 10 additional 1GbE ports. Server-grade management: IPMI 2.0 BMC with iKVM, virtual media and DCMI. Fail-safe inline operation: optional hardware LAN bypass. Industrial hardening: 9-28 VDC, isolated DIO, TPM 2.0 and -30 to 72 C configurations.

Applications

UTM and inline security appliances, industrial network segmentation, SD-WAN edge CPE, IoT data aggregation with local storage, factory-floor CAN and DIO control, and wide-temperature transportation or utility cabinets.
