Overview
PLCnext Control AXC F 1152, AXC F 2152 and AXC F 3152 are Phoenix Contact's open automation controllers. Unlike a conventional PLC, the platform runs a Yocto-based Linux operating system with a real-time patch, so IEC 61131-3 control logic and high-level code such as C++, Python or MATLAB/Simulink models execute in the same runtime on the same hardware.
The controllers sit on the Axioline F local bus and accept up to 63 I/O modules plus up to three left-aligned functional extension modules. Those extensions let a single controller add an AI and machine-learning accelerator for edge inference, an extra Ethernet interface, a PROFIBUS or INTERBUS master, or a safety module enabling applications up to SIL 3. That modularity means a station can grow from a basic control node into an edge analytics or safety controller without changing CPU.
The AXC F 3152 uses an Intel Atom x5-E3930 processor for heavier compute, while the 1152 and 2152 use a dual-core Arm Cortex-A9. All three are certified for secure development under IEC 62443-4-1 and product-certified under IEC 62443-4-2 with TUV Sud ML 3, and connect to PROFICLOUD or third-party clouds through configurable connectors. QS Compute supplies the PLCnext controller, extension and I/O portfolio.
Key Benefits
One runtime, two worlds: IEC 61131-3 and high-level language code share the same Linux-based real-time controller. Edge AI without a separate box: an Axioline extension module adds machine-learning inference directly in the controller. Safety and fieldbus scalable: add a SIL 3 safety module, PROFIBUS master or extra Ethernet port in the same station. Certified security: TUV Sud ML 3 development and product certification under IEC 62443.
Applications
Smart-manufacturing control cabinets, edge analytics and predictive-maintenance nodes, machine control with integrated AI vision, process automation with cloud connectivity, and safety-related applications requiring SIL 3 within a modular I/O station.
