Overview
The Quectel SP895BD-AP is a smart AIoT module built on Qualcomm's Dragonwing Q-8750 SoC. It is designed for high-performance IoT applications including video conferencing, 8K computing power boards and smart retail terminals, and runs Android 15 or Linux.
The Q-8750 integrates an 8-core Qualcomm Oryon CPU configured as two cores at up to 4.32GHz and six at 3.53GHz, paired with an Adreno Series 8 GPU. Qualcomm rates the on-device NPU at 80 TOPS, positioning the module well above mainstream AIoT SoCs for local inference. Media handling covers 8K video encoding and decoding, with three integrated ISPs supporting up to three 48MP camera inputs simultaneously or a single 108MP sensor.
Quectel claims the shift to the Oryon CPU architecture delivers a 45% improvement in CPU performance and 44% better energy efficiency compared with the previous generation — likely modules built on Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or Gen 3 — while the Adreno 830-class GPU brings a 40% graphics uplift for UHD (8K/3D) displays and complex rendering.
The module ships in a compact LGA package and exposes standard interfaces including MIPI DSI and CSI, PCIe, USB, I2S, UART, I2C and SPI. It should be distinguished from Qualcomm's Dragonwing IQ-X series, which targets industrial PCs running Windows — the SP895BD-AP is the Android/Linux multimedia and vision-oriented part. Quectel does not publish pricing, so the SP895BD-AP is supplied on quotation through QS Compute.
Key Benefits
80 TOPS NPU in an AIoT module for local inference without a discrete accelerator. 8-core Oryon CPU to 4.32GHz with a claimed 45% generational performance gain. Triple ISP supporting 3x48MP or 1x108MP enables multi-camera vision products on a single module. 8K encode and decode with Adreno Series 8 graphics for UHD displays and rich rendering. Compact LGA form factor with standard MIPI, PCIe, USB and serial interfaces. Android 15 and Linux support covers both consumer-style and embedded software stacks.
Applications
Video conferencing systems and smart meeting-room devices, 8K computing power boards and media processors, smart retail and self-service terminals, multi-camera vision appliances, AI kiosks and digital signage, and high-performance IoT gateways requiring local generative AI inference.
