Overview
The Qualcomm Dragonwing IQ-X Series is an industrial-grade processor family aimed at the computers that run machines rather than the computers people sit at. It places a custom Qualcomm Oryon CPU, an Adreno GPU and a Hexagon NPU on one 4 nm die rated from -40 C to 105 C, so the same silicon can serve a panel PC on a washdown wall and a transportation controller with no thermal derating.
Two SKUs define the family. The IQ-X7181 carries 12 Oryon cores at up to 3.4 GHz alongside an Adreno GPU at 1.25 GHz and up to 64 GB of LPDDR5x across eight 16-bit channels; the IQ-X5121 pairs 8 cores with a 1.1 GHz GPU. Both draw on the same Hexagon NPU for up to 45 TOPS of combined CPU, GPU and NPU AI performance, which is enough to run vision and voice models locally on the machine.
Integration is deliberately PC-like. The platform exposes PCIe Gen 4 for Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7 and 5G modules, eleven USB interfaces, 221 GPIOs, up to six camera inputs and dual display output, all in a 58 mm FCBGA package. Because the family supports Windows LTSC, Linux and Ubuntu — and is already carried on COM-HPC Mini modules from congatec and SECO's COM Express and SMARC designs — an industrial OEM can prototype on a standard module and move to a custom carrier without changing software.
