Overview

Rambus' client memory chipset covers the three module types that came out of the AI-PC memory transition: LPCAMM2 (LPDDR5 compression-attached modules), CUDIMM and CSODIMM. The PMIC5200 serves LPCAMM2 modules, the PMIC5120 serves DDR5 CUDIMMs and CSODIMMs, and both ship alongside a client clock driver and SPD hub.

The chips matter because each of those module types moves power management and clocking onto the module itself. A CUDIMM or CSODIMM regenerates its clock with an on-module driver; an LPCAMM2 module needs its own PMIC to drive LPDDR5X rails. Module makers therefore need a matched PMIC + CKD + SPD set rather than discrete parts — which is the gap this chipset fills.

For platform designers the practical consequence is that memory qualification now includes the on-module silicon, not just the DRAM. Rambus positions this family as extending its memory interface coverage across every JEDEC-defined module type for servers and PCs.
