Overview
Innodisk's DDR5 CAMM2 and LPDDR5X CAMM2 modules move industrial memory from SO-DIMM sockets to the compression-attached CAMM2 form factor. A single CAMM2 module consolidates two channels, so it delivers the capacity and bandwidth of two SODIMMs in roughly 40% of the space — hence the quoted 60% space reduction.
The electrical case is as important as the physical one: because the module is compressed flat against the board rather than standing in a socket, there are no unused-slot stubs to degrade signal integrity and the module's whole face is available for thermal contact. That helps at 6400 MT/s (DDR5) and 8533 MT/s (LPDDR5X), and it frees board area for customised cooling.
For rugged and compact industrial designs the practical benefit is mechanical: fewer connectors to shake loose, a lower profile that fits sealed enclosures, and better heat transfer to the enclosure wall.
Key Benefits
60% space saving versus SODIMM, dual-channel on one module, cleaner signal integrity with no DIMM stubs, and better thermal contact for sealed industrial enclosures.
Applications
Rugged industrial computers, compact edge systems, medical devices, and fanless designs where board area and thermal headroom are scarce.
