Overview
Supermicro's FlexTwin is a high-density, dual-node platform that fits two independent servers into a single 1-OU chassis. Each node runs independently, so a failure or maintenance action on one does not take the other out of service.
The platform is designed around Supermicro's DLC-2 direct liquid cooling, which cools the CPUs, memory and VRMs rather than only the processors — Supermicro claims this removes up to 90% of system-generated heat. That is what makes the 1-OU density viable for sustained HPC and AI loads rather than burst workloads.
FlexTwin was announced alongside Supermicro's expanded OCP ORv3 portfolio and is intended for ORv3 environments, pairing with the company's 21-inch 44OU and 48OU open racks. It supports the latest Intel processors with a stated path to future Intel and AMD CPUs.
