Overview
The InWin IW-RS112-08 fits twelve U.2 hot-swap bays into a single rack unit and routes them over a SAS4 plus PCIe Gen5 hybrid backplane. The primary configuration brings twelve MCIO 4i links plus three SlimSAS (SFF-8654 4i) links from the host and supports NVMe, SAS or SATA in every bay; two further backplane options trade NVMe lanes for pure SAS/SATA density.
Because the backplane carries PCIe Gen5 at 32 GT/s alongside SAS4 at 24 Gb/s, the chassis is aimed at Gen5 NVMe arrays rather than last-generation flash. Cooling scales with the drive generation - six 40 x 56 mm fans at 33,000 RPM for Gen5, 21,500 RPM for Gen4 - and a 750 W 80 PLUS Platinum redundant PSU ships pre-installed.
