Overview
The Vertiv Geist UPDU exists to solve a procurement problem rather than a power problem. A conventional rack PDU is a region-specific part: a 208 V 30 A L6-30P unit is useless in a 400 V three-phase European hall. The UPDU decouples the PDU from its input: the unit accepts 16 A to 63 A at 120 V to 415 V, and the input cord is a separate, detachable component.
That means a single PDU part number can be stocked and deployed across regions, with only the cord changing. For AI and HPC racks where a single 3-phase 415 V feed may carry 17.2 kW or more, the 22 kW UPDU models cover the highest-density single-rack deployments in the range.
The UPDU is available in vertical (0U) and horizontal form factors with C13/C19 combination outlets, U-Lock locking receptacles rated to 60 °C, and basic, metered, monitored and switched options, so the same platform serves a cabinet of network switches and a cabinet of eight-way GPU servers.
