Overview
The Teledyne e2v Topaz family is built around an exceptionally small 2.5 µm global-shutter pixel, yielding what the company describes as the industry's smallest 2 MP industrial-grade global-shutter sensor. The Topaz 2M offers 1920 x 1080 resolution and the 1.5M a wide-format 1920 x 800 variant with a higher frame rate.
Targeted at embedded vision, the sensors use a MIPI CSI-2 interface for direct connection to popular image signal processors, consume under 220 mW in active mode and below 1 mW in standby, and wake to a first good frame in under 10 ms. On-chip image statistics, histogram output and two regions of interest simplify host processing.
Key Benefits
Smallest 2 MP global shutter sensor fits space-constrained embedded designs; sub-220 mW and sub-1 mW standby enable battery-powered devices; MIPI CSI-2 output connects directly to common ISPs.
Applications
Barcode scanning; embedded vision systems; drone and UAV imaging; virtual/augmented reality; biometric systems; IoT edge devices; surveillance.
