Overview
The MicroPod is the small end of the Submer range: a sealed immersion pod that holds 6U of IT gear up to 800 mm deep and dissipates 6.7 kW indoors — or 5 kW outdoors in direct sunlight without any shelter. That last figure is the point. It is an edge enclosure that does not need a cooled room, a fan wall or a filtered air supply, because the electronics never see the outside air.
The pod takes 180 litres of SmartCoolant, a synthetic single-phase dielectric with a 233 °C fire point and a −50 °C pour point, rated from −5 °C to +40 °C ambient. Because the tank is sealed, particulate ingress, humidity and airborne corrosion are non-issues — the failure modes that kill conventional outdoor cabinets in coastal, desert or industrial sites.
Typical deployments are 5G and edge compute nodes at cell sites, factory floors, rail and utility substations, and oil-and-gas remote installations where sending a technician to a failed fan-filter unit costs more than the compute. QS Compute supplies the MicroPod and SmartCoolant in volume.
Key Benefits
Outdoors without a shelter — 5 kW dissipation in direct sunlight, −5 °C to +40 °C ambient. Immune to the environment — sealed tank means no dust, humidity or salt-laden air reaches the boards. Edge-appropriate footprint — 150 × 84 × 122 cm, 290 kg empty, installable where a rack room cannot be built.
Applications
5G and edge compute at cell sites, factory-floor compute in dusty or hot plants, rail and utility substations, remote oil and gas installations, and coastal or desert sites where air-cooled outdoor cabinets corrode or clog.
