Overview

The Dell PowerCool CDU C7000 is Dell's rackmount cooling distribution unit for the highest-density liquid-cooled AI infrastructure, announced at Dell Technologies World 2026. In a 4U form factor it cools more than 220 kW of heat — a density that would previously have required substantially more rack space.

Its defining operational characteristic is tolerance for warm facility water: the C7000 accepts inlet temperatures as high as 40°C. Because chillers are the largest single mechanical load in most data centers, running on warmer facility water lets operators cut chiller dependency and lower facility energy consumption, improving site-level efficiency while still removing extreme heat from the rack.

Dell designed the C7000 specifically for the NVIDIA Vera Rubin generation, explicitly supporting the NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 and NVIDIA Rubin HGX NVL8 platforms — systems expected to set new records for GPU performance and power density. It is designed to integrate directly with Dell's PowerRack rack-scale infrastructure, where cooling, power and compute are engineered together rather than as separate retrofit projects.
