Overview

Dell PowerRack is Dell Technologies' integrated rack-scale portfolio, announced at Dell Technologies World 2026. The premise is that competitive advantage in AI is now built — or lost — at the rack level: as Dell puts it, "the bottleneck is no longer just GPUs, it is everything around them." PowerRack spans compute, networking and Exascale Storage in factory-integrated, end-to-end validated racks.

Three rack configurations make up the portfolio. PowerRack for Compute delivers industry-leading GPU density with direct liquid cooling and is validated at the factory so it can scale with evolving GPU roadmaps without infrastructure redesign. PowerRack for Networking is built on Dell PowerSwitch SN6600 switches (a branded NVIDIA Spectrum SN6600-LD) — eight per rack, providing over 800 Tb/s of east-west switching capacity, with all cabling, power and cooling engineered together. PowerRack for Exascale Storage targets 10+ PB environments at up to 6 TB/s per rack, using SSDs as large as 245 TB each in a software-defined 4-in-1 architecture spanning file, object and parallel-file engines on one hardware platform, with block storage arriving in the first half of CY2027.

Operationally, the Dell Integrated Rack Controller with OpenManage Enterprise provides remote orchestration and unified visibility so the whole rack behaves as a single predictable system. Racks ship fully validated and reach production workloads in just over six hours — Dell cites an 84% faster time-to-value versus self-assembly, per a Principled Technologies study from April 2026. Dell is also the number one rack-scale infrastructure provider, shipping more than twice the volume of its closest competitor in CY2025, against a market where AI infrastructure spending grew 166% year-over-year to $82 billion in a single quarter (IDC).

For liquid-cooled deployments, Dell pairs PowerRack with the PowerCool CDU C7000 — a 4U cooling distribution unit rated for more than 220 kW, designed for the NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 and Rubin HGX NVL8 platforms.
