Overview
The DCX FDU V2AT2 is a second-generation Facility Distribution Unit — a coolant distribution unit built at data-hall scale rather than rack scale. It delivers up to 8.15 MW of heat transfer capacity with a 2 C approach temperature while operating at 45 C supply water, which lets operators reject heat without chillers in many deployments.
That warm-water capability is what makes the unit relevant to current AI infrastructure. NVIDIA's NVL72 GB200 and GB300 Blackwell racks draw roughly 142 kW each and Vera Rubin systems reach up to 246 kW per rack, so cooling has moved from a peripheral system to a first-order design constraint. DCX explicitly positions the V2AT2 for these architectures and beyond, noting that a single unit replaces multiple legacy 1.3 MW CDUs.
Mechanically, the FDU is a split C-frame and H-frame assembly designed for plant rooms and technical corridors, with flexible top or bottom primary and secondary loop connections and an N+1 pump arrangement (three duty plus one standby). DCX also ships a 5 MW FDU at approximately 4 C approach temperature and a family of Enterprise CDUs from 0.6 to 2.6 MW — the ECDU 1380/2600 H2, ECDU 1380/2600 and ECDU 600/1200 — so capacity can be matched to each hall rather than over-buying for the worst case.
Key Benefits
Multi-megawatt capacity at hall scale — up to 8.15 MW per unit with a 2 C approach temperature, replacing several legacy 1.3 MW CDUs. 45 C warm-water operation enables chillerless heat rejection and supports NVIDIA NVL72 GB200/GB300 and Vera Rubin racks, backed by N+1 pump redundancy and in-house liquid-cooled data center design and maintenance services.
Applications
Hyperscale and AI factory data halls, NVIDIA GB200/GB300 NVL72 deployments, Vera Rubin rack-scale installations, chillerless or low-PUE greenfield builds, and plant-room or technical-corridor cooling infrastructure where per-rack CDUs are impractical.
