Overview
The Maxio MAP1602 is a DRAM-less PCIe Gen4 x4 NVMe SSD controller that uses Host Memory Buffer caching and supports NAND up to 2400 MT/s. It is widely paired with YMTC 232-layer TLC and QLC NAND to build value Gen4 drives that reach 7 GB/s-class read speeds at low cost and low power.
In the Acer FA200 Gen4 4TB SSD the MAP1602 delivered 7,127 MB/s sequential read, 6,187 MB/s write and over one million IOPS, running cooler than most 7 GB/s Gen4 drives. That combination makes it a common controller for value and embedded Gen4 NVMe storage.
Key Benefits
DRAM-less architecture lowers BOM cost and power. Up to 2400 MT/s NAND sustains 7 GB/s-class throughput. Cool-running operation suits laptops and compact SSDs. Broad ecosystem validated with YMTC 232-layer TLC and QLC.
Applications
Value and mid-range Gen4 NVMe SSDs, laptop and desktop storage upgrades, embedded NVMe, and AI-PC storage.
