Overview

The Intel X710-T4 delivers four 10GBASE-T copper ports, so existing Cat6a structured cabling can be reused at 10G without an optics or DAC change-out. Every port negotiates down to 1G/100M, which makes the card useful in mixed-speed racks.

Because 10GBASE-T PHYs draw more power than SFP+ optics, the T4 runs hotter than a DA4 — plan for at least 200 LFM airflow. In exchange, cabling cost per port is materially lower for runs beyond a few metres.

Key Benefits

Reuse Cat6a cabling at 10G with no optics. Multi-speed ports auto-negotiate 10G/1G/100M. Full offload suite: SR-IOV, VMDq, iSCSI/FCoE. Switch-independent: works with any 10GBASE-T switch port.

Applications

Datacenters with copper structured cabling, SMB and branch rack aggregation, storage backplanes at 10G copper, test-lab bench wiring, and virtualized hosts without fibre patch panels.
