Overview

GoBridge ASSPs are highly integrated, low-power, single-chip devices for interfacing and communicating between different peripheral interface types. They are designed for converting one interface type to another, multiplexing between multiple interfaces, or demultiplexing out to several.

The first two devices in the line are the GWU2X and GWU2U. The GWU2X bridges a full-speed USB device interface to SPI Master, I2C Master, JTAG Master and GPIO, while the GWU2U provides USB-to-UART conversion. Because the USB protocol handling is built in, a designer does not need to write or flash device firmware — the bridge is configured through a configurable register map and driven through a C/C++ host API.

A frequent use is FPGA configuration and debug: the GWU2X can program GOWIN FPGA products using Gowin Programmer, and its JTAG/SPI/I2C master ports with 16 GPIOs make it useful as a compact motherboard-management or board-bring-up bridge in embedded and server-adjacent designs.

Key Benefits

Zero firmware development — on-chip USB protocol handling removes the need to write device code. Multi-protocol flexibility from a single ASSP covers SPI, I2C, JTAG, GPIO and UART roles. Independent clock adjustment and buffering per interface simplify timing across mismatched buses, and the 3.3 V / 2.5 V I/O options fit mixed-voltage boards.

Applications

FPGA configuration and in-system programming, embedded board bring-up and debug ports, industrial I/O expansion and protocol conversion, motherboard management bridging, test fixtures requiring USB-attached SPI/I2C/JTAG masters, and legacy peripheral modernization.
