200G NRZ: the storage-fabric tier

EM200-QDX is the entry point of the Taurus line and the one that pairs with 200G storage and management fabrics rather than GPU scale-out. It runs 25G per lane NRZ — the same electrical lane rate as 100GbE QSFP28 — so it drops into established 25G SerDes designs, and the eight-lane QSFP-DD shell gives the 200G aggregate.

The reason to choose a smart module here rather than a passive DAC is again manageability at scale. A row of 200G links between a storage JBOD and a leaf switch that can report per-cable BER and eye metrics turns a "the array dropped off the fabric" incident into a specific cable replacement in minutes. Astera Labs exposes those metrics through COSMOS regardless of which Taurus member is installed, so a fleet with 200G, 400G and 800G tiers reports uniformly.
