Overview
The 2.5-inch 7mm drive is still the most widely accepted storage form factor in industrial and rack equipment, and Viking Technology builds it in the widest capacity span on the line: from 960GB up to 8TB, on either SATA 6Gb/s or PCIe, with the same -45°C to 85°C industrial temperature option as the M.2 parts.
What separates this from a commodity 2.5-inch SSD is the qualification envelope. The family is tested to MIL-STD-810, survives 1000G shock and 16.4g rms vibration across the 10 to 2,000Hz band, operates to 80,000 ft, and tolerates 5% to 95% non-condensing humidity. Data integrity features include 55-bit/512 BCH ECC per sector, end-to-end CRC protection, recovery from sector, page and block failure, and Power Fail Data Protection. An on-board temperature sensor is exposed through S.M.A.R.T. attributes so the host can watch drive thermals.
Endurance follows the same two-mode pattern as the rest of the family: SLC mode at 10 DWPD for logging and write-cache roles, cMLC mode at 1 to 3 DWPD for general system storage. Performance is 2,100 MB/s sequential read and 1,400 MB/s write with up to 430,000 sustained random IOPS.
Representative part numbers include VSFN253T20YC4WSA at 3200GB, VSFN251T60YC4WSA at 1600GB, VSFN22960GHCLWSA at 960GB and VSFN227T68HC8WSA at 7680GB in the PCIe tier, with the VSFN22 series using Samsung controllers and NAND. SATA-tier parts carry the VRFS2 series numbering.
QS Compute supplies Viking 2.5-inch industrial SSDs against project requirements, including the industrial-temperature and high-capacity grades.
Key Benefits
Up to 8TB in a single 2.5-inch drive — the widest capacity range on the Viking line. MIL-STD-810 tested with 1000G shock and 16.4g rms vibration ratings. -45°C to 85°C grade available for harsh-environment deployments. Power Fail Data Protection and end-to-end CRC to protect in-flight writes. SLC or cMLC endurance modes matched to the write workload.
