Overview
The UH712a is Union Memory's next-generation PCIe 5.0 data-centre SSD, announced around a single buying argument: capacity. In hyperscale deployments the meaningful saving is usually fewer drives and fewer chassis for the same exabytes, not a marginal IOPS gain, and a Gen5 interface is what makes a high-capacity drive practical to read at line rate.
It slots between the Gen4 UH711a and the performance-tuned UH812a/UH832a pair — same vendor stack, tuned for capacity tiers rather than for the hottest data.
Key Benefits
PCIe 5.0 Gen5 bandwidth · Higher capacity per drive to cut drive and chassis count · Hyperscale-tuned capacity tier · Enterprise reliability · Single-vendor path from Gen4 to Gen5
Applications
Hyperscale cloud capacity tiers, AI data lakes and cold-to-warm storage, big-data clusters, scale-out object storage, backup and archive flash
