Overview

The MTFDKBA960TFR-1BC1ZABYY is a 960GB Micron 7450 PRO data centre SSD in the M.2 2280 (22 x 80 mm) form factor. It is a PCIe Gen4 x4 NVMe drive using 3D TLC NAND and rated at 1 DWPD, the read-intensive endurance class, which places it in server-boot, caching and read-heavy virtualisation roles rather than write-dominated logging.

The notable configuration point is that Micron builds a power-loss-protected M.2 22x80 mm model specifically for server-boot use - the M.2 form factor normally forgoes the hold-up capacitors that U.2 drives carry, so a boot drive that can lose power mid-write needs that protection. Micron quotes 2 ms and lower latency at 99.9999% QoS for the 7450 family.

On the security side the 7450 uses Micron's Secure Execution Environment, an isolated security processing engine in the controller, and the family supports the OCP NVMe SSD 2.0 specification for select customers. The same 7450 generation is also offered as MTFDKBZ* M.2 22x110 and MTFDKCC* U.3 parts, so a single platform can mix form factors across the same firmware family.
