Overview
AMP Inc.'s industrial NVMe line is organised around three interface generations and three M.2 lengths, which lets a single sourcing relationship cover everything from a 30 mm boot device in a compact gateway to an 8 TB Gen4 drive in a data-logging edge server. All drives are 22 mm wide and use the M.2 edge connector; the last two digits of the form-factor name indicate board length, so 2230 is 30 mm, 2242 is 42 mm and 2280 is 80 mm. The company is explicit that host interface and connector keying must be checked, since an M.2 socket does not automatically support both NVMe and SATA.
The Gen4 E14 series is the volume industrial workhorse: PCIe Gen4 x4 with a DDR4 DRAM buffer, up to 3,500 / 3,200 MB/s sequential and 446,000 / 173,000 random 4K IOPS, offered in 240 GB to 7,680 GB across the three lengths. Commercial and industrial temperature grades are separate orderable variants, denoted by the C or I suffix on the part number, and hardware power-loss protection is available by configuration on 2280 models up to 3,840 GB — a requirement in systems that lose power without warning.
Above that sits the Gen4 2280 flagship at up to 7,000 / 6,850 MB/s across 500 GB to 8 TB, and below it Gen3 and Gen2 families plus MLC and pSLC options for designs that need deterministic write behaviour or extended endurance rather than raw throughput. Optional self-encrypting drive support with TCG/AES is configured at order time, and every drive ships with LDPC ECC, global wear levelling, temperature monitoring and throttling.
Key Benefits
One vendor across the M.2 range: 2230, 2242 and 2280 in Gen2, Gen3 and Gen4 means fewer qualification cycles. Up to 8 TB in M.2 2280: high-capacity local storage without moving to U.2 or add-in cards. Industrial temperature grade: -40 to +85 degrees C variants for cabinets and vehicles. Configurable data protection: hardware power-loss protection and optional TCG/AES self-encryption on request. Clear part numbering: AMPW5P4407T6-MQ060A style numbers encode form factor, capacity and grade, with no ambiguity at RFQ.
Applications
Embedded and edge computing platforms, industrial computers and panel PCs, networking and telecom appliances, transportation and in-vehicle systems, factory automation controllers, and medical or instrumentation designs that need wide-temperature, power-loss-protected local storage.
