Overview
The MSI CG480-S6053 is a 4U, dual-socket server platform from MSI's AI/data-center line, built to host up to eight double-wide GPUs. MSI showed the platform at COMPUTEX 2026 as part of a portfolio that spans NVIDIA MGX-based GPU servers, OCP ORv3 rack-scale architectures and DC-MHS multi-node systems.
It is a general-purpose GPU server rather than a fixed-reference design: the value is in the mix of eight PCIe GPUs, a large DDR5 memory footprint and fast NVMe bays, so the same chassis can serve LLM inference, VDI, rendering and HPC. Networking options include NVIDIA ConnectX-8 SuperNICs at up to 400G per port for cluster fabrics.
For deployment planning, note that an eight-GPU node at current accelerator TDPs will normally be specified with liquid cooling in dense racks; MSI offers the platform in both air and liquid-cooled configurations.
Key Benefits
Up to 8 double-wide GPUs in 4U, dual-socket scalability, fast NVMe storage bays and 400G-class ConnectX-8 networking for cluster fabrics.
Applications
LLM training and inference, HPC clusters, GPU virtualization and VDI, rendering, and enterprise AI infrastructure.
