Overview
The Microchip SmartFusion2 Advanced Development Kit is a full-featured development platform built around a 150K LE SmartFusion2 SoC FPGA. SmartFusion2 is unusual in the FPGA market: it combines flash-based, non-volatile FPGA fabric with a hard Arm Cortex-M3 microcontroller subsystem and programmable analog on the same die, so a design can partition between deterministic hardware logic, microcontroller firmware and analog functions instead of adding three separate devices.
Because the fabric is flash-based and configured on power-up from on-chip memory, SmartFusion2 devices bring up instantly and do not need an external configuration PROM - one reason they are chosen for secure, low-power industrial and communications designs. The advanced kit gives the breadboard for architecture exploration and software bring-up before a production board is built.
