Overview
The Vecow PBC-2000 is a fanless embedded computer that houses Vecow's EPBC-2000 2.5-inch Pico-ITX board, built on the Intel Atom x7211RE from the Amston Lake generation. That is a 6 W dual-core part with 16 execution units of UHD graphics — deliberately in the low-power tier, which is what allows the −40 °C to +70 °C fanless operating range without a rotating part.
The memory specification is the detail that separates it from the usual low-power box: up to 16 GB of DDR5-4800 with in-band ECC. In-band ECC gives single-bit error correction on a standard non-ECC SO-DIMM, which matters in unattended installations where a silent bit flip in a long-running process is far more expensive than the module premium.
I/O is aimed at classic industrial integration: two 2.5GbE ports on Realtek RTL8125BI-CG controllers, two software-selectable RS-232/422/485 DB-9 ports, a 10-pin GPIO header, four USB ports in total, HDMI 2.1 at up to 4096 × 2304 @ 60 Hz, and both an M.2 Key-B socket for 4G/5G with its own SIM tray and an M.2 Key-E socket for Wi-Fi. Storage can be a 2280 NVMe drive on the Key-B socket, a SATA III device, or both. Power comes in on a 2-pin terminal block at 12 V DC, and Wake-on-LAN, PXE boot and a hardware monitor with CPU overtemperature auto-throttling are all present.
Key Benefits
In-band ECC at the low-power tier. Up to 16 GB DDR5-4800 with single-bit error correction on a standard SO-DIMM — rare in a 6 W fanless box. True wide temperature, no fan. −40 °C to +70 °C entirely passively cooled, with CPU overtemperature auto-throttling as a backstop. Field wiring ready. Two software-selectable RS-232/422/485 DB-9 ports, 10-pin GPIO, a terminal-block DC input and M.2 4G/5G with a dedicated SIM socket. Dual 2.5GbE. Two Realtek RTL8125BI-CG ports rather than one gigabit and one 2.5G.
Applications
Industrial automation controllers, machine vision and inspection nodes, intelligent transportation and roadside cabinets, digital signage and kiosk controllers, building and energy management gateways, remote telemetry and SCADA front ends, outdoor or unheated enclosures.
