Overview
The Avalue EPC-ASL is a rugged fanless industrial mini PC built around the Intel Processor N97, a quad-core part with a 12 W TDP and 24 EU UHD Graphics. Avalue positions it explicitly for 24/7 operation, which in this class is a statement about thermal design and component selection rather than a marketing adjective — the chassis is fanless and the unit is intended for smart manufacturing, retail, logistics and similar always-on settings.
The board carries up to 16 GB of DDR5-4800 in a single SO-DIMM slot, with storage from either an M.2 2280 NVMe drive on PCIe x1 or a 2.5-inch SATA bay up to 7 mm thick. Display output comes from HDMI 2.0b and DisplayPort 1.4a, both capable of 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz, so two 4K monitors can run simultaneously without a discrete GPU.
Networking is dual 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet on Intel I226V controllers plus three USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A ports, two RS-232 DB9 COM ports, and Realtek ALC888S audio with mic-in and line-out on 3.5 mm jacks. Two M.2 sockets cover wireless: a Key-B socket supporting 3042, 3052 and 2242 modules with PCIe x1 and USB for cellular, and a Key-E 2230 socket for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Optional TPM 2.0 is available, BIOS is AMI on a 256 Mbit SPI flash, and power is a lockable +12 V or +24 V DC jack — the 24 V input being the one factory floors usually have on hand.
