Overview
Revolution Pi takes the Raspberry Pi Compute Module and puts it into a DIN-rail industrial housing with the interfaces a control cabinet actually needs: 24 V DC power, two Gigabit Ethernet ports, RS485, and protection circuitry that passes EN 61131-2 and IEC 61000-6-2 EMC and surge testing. The result is a Raspberry Pi that can be installed like a PLC rather than hidden inside a box.
The modularity is the differentiator. The PiBridge system bus runs along the left and right sides of the base module and accepts RevPi I/O modules and RevPi gateway modules, so a single Connect unit can grow from an IIoT gateway into a small distributed I/O station. RevPi Con modules attach on the second ConBridge bus.
The fourth generation uses the CM4 and the fifth uses the CM5, with 4 GB or 8 GB of RAM and 32 GB of eMMC. Because the software environment is Raspberry Pi OS, existing Python, Node.js and container tooling runs unchanged, which shortens development time compared with proprietary industrial controllers.
Key Benefits
Raspberry Pi software ecosystem in a hardened DIN-rail form factor with 24 V DC power and EN 61131-2 EMC protection, PiBridge modular I/O and gateway expansion so one unit can scale with the machine, and CAN FD plus RS485 for mixed fieldbus and serial environments.
Applications
Industrial IoT and machine data gateways, small to medium factory automation cells, test and measurement rigs, building automation, energy monitoring, OEM machine controllers, and edge data collection with local processing.
